Don’t believe everything you read…
Opening a buying dock down in Bunkie turned out to be a blessing we never saw coming…
Of course, it was a chance for us to grow our business by buying crawfish from the local fishermen to ship to all of you.
But, what really took us by surprise was the friendships we forged with each person who stopped by to sell us their crawfish. We've had the pleasure of meeting so many folks who keep this industry rolling. They're truly top-notch, honest people.
One thing that's disheartening is all the negative press about this crawfish season and how it's impacting the farmers. A lot of them found us this year, feeling the brunt from lack of sales locally. It seems like a bunch of folks have taken these headlines to heart and decided to skip out on crawfish this year. Here’s something all of know by now: Negativity Gets Clicks. So many publications are incentivized to pursue clicks, rather than the whole truth.
And, that’s the big shame here… In reality, the crawfish business is suffering the same pains that nearly every industry is facing right now.
The reality is, the crawfish industry has made an amazing comeback this season, and prices have made a big recovery since the start. You'd hardly know there was a drought here in central Louisiana. The crawfish are plentiful, and they’re some of the best we’ve had in years!
Let's face it, prices have gone up on everything this year, not just crawfish. But when you look at the big picture, the crawfish industry hasn't been hit any harder than the rest. Sure, prices are a bit steeper this year compared to last, but when you compare it to everything else, it isn’t all that different.
With that being said, we’d like to encourage all you crawfish lovers to get out there and enjoy some, any way you can. Whether you're getting your crawfish from us or picking them up locally, it all helps the fishermen who make this business go round!
Thanks for reading, y'all!
